ORIGINAL COATINGS:
Coatings analyses were performed in an attempt to determine original color. Excavations with a scalpel and microscopic examination of coatings cross sections revelealed small remnants of original color. Cross sections of these small remnants revealed the full history of coating and recoating.
COATINGS HISTORY:
10. Gray (outer color before restoration).
9. Oliv Grun.
8. Brown primer or else Rot Brun.
7. Dunkel Gelb (restoration?).
6. Pink primer.
(At this point all coatings but for a few remnants were removed by abrasive blasting).
5. Oliv Grun (maintenance coat?).
4. Second coat of Oliv Grun.
3. First Oliv Grun (field coat?).
2. Factory Dunkel Gelb.
1. Factory red lead primer.
